STEPHANIE CATES
Stephanie Cates is currently SERVING IN ISAI, ROMANIA. Since 2019, when Stephanie moved to Romania, she and her team have been working to serve their local community in many ways, but one of her larger projects has been the launch of Club D.I.G. (Discipleship, Identity, Growth) which is a discipleship program aimed for older elementary and middle school aged students who live nearby. They have partnered with local schools and use biblical principles to teach these children about important life skills and ultimately to influence them positively and for the sake of the Gospel.
Over the past few years, Stephanie has been working with locals to help Romanians start and develop business plans to make the self-sufficient, has launched a Missions Puzzle Company to help give towards other missionaries and has been working to build a tiny house so that she has personal space to help her as she continues to pour into her community for the sake of the Gospel.
Team Awaken joined the missional efforts of Stephanie to help build a wood framed house for a family in need. On Monday the slab was prepared and on Saturday, the family received their keys. The work was complicated and required a lot of the team, working in 100+ degree weather. It was one of the hottest weeks in recent history. But as exhausting as it was, their efforts were absolutely worth it as they not only built a new home but were able to share the love of Christ with this family. This home will provide a fresh start, a safe haven and a place of peace and rest… a home.
ALEX & BETHANY TANDON
Alex and Bethany, and their two sons Caleb and Joshua, are faithfully serving the Lord in GEORGE, SOUTH AFRICA. Alex is the lead pastor of Life Fellowship Church, a newly established church plant, in George. Life Fellowship Church is strategically placed on the property of Inspire George, a non-profit ministry that Alex and Bethany volunteer much of their time to. This ministry provides community enrichment and support through basic computer courses, life skills classes, as well as sports camps for local youth. Alex and Bethany also play an active role in providing theological training through various means, with the ultimate goal of equipping existing churches in the area. Please pray and consider giving to the Tandons as they labor to expand God's Kingdom in South Africa!
HOWARD & AILEEN OSTENDORFF
Howard and Aileen serve with Freedom in Christ Ministries. Howard is the director of Freedom in Christ in AFRICA and works alongside the leadership team on the ground in several African countries. The Ostendorff’s have spent most of their life in Kenya and now live full time in Columbia, but travel back and forth to Africa several times per year to provide support to the ministries that they oversee, while also providing leadership to several ministries at Awaken.
